What we are building

EvoCat is an iPhone app blocker. You choose the apps and websites, set recurring focus schedules, and pick a cat’s style. Physical, cognitive, and breathing challenges create an interruption before screen access. Larry provides the strict blocking option.

“Beat the cat” means completing that challenge and earning screen time. It is a way to make opening a feed more deliberate. We are developing this approach; we do not claim that EvoCat has been clinically proven to treat addiction.

The website is useful on its own. Every lesson and the one-minute pause is free, with no account required. The iPhone app is a separate subscription product.

How we write the lessons

These lessons are published by EvoCat, the company behind the app. They are product-publisher guidance, not independent clinical advice. We keep that relationship visible on every lesson.

  • Original sources. We link to research papers for scientific findings and official documentation for device controls.
  • Limits alongside findings. A small trial is described as a small trial. Associations are not presented as proof of cause. A study of mobile-internet blocking is not described as a study of EvoCat.
  • Experience has a label. Reddit accounts can suggest useful questions and experiments. They are not evidence that a method works for everyone.
  • Something to try. Every lesson includes a concrete action. Our exercises and seven-day plan are editorial suggestions, not validated treatment protocols.
  • No borrowed authority. We do not invent expert reviewers, user results, ratings, or claims about resetting your brain.
