Does EvoCat have hard block?
Yes. Hard block has no in-app break screen. The selected apps stay blocked until the focus block ends. There is no chess puzzle, exercise or breathing challenge to unlock an early break in this mode.
Choose Hard block in Settings → Breaks before your session. Keep essential apps outside your selection. Blocking uses Apple’s Screen Time permissions; hard block describes the in-app rule, not a guarantee against changes to device permissions.
When you want a break, earn it.
Choose one of four challenge methods instead of hard block. After passing, select a break of 1–15 minutes. The apps lock again when it ends.
- Chess
- Find mate in one. A wrong move means no break this time.
- Push-ups
- Race your cat to your chosen target. Your camera counts reps on-device.
- Quick quiz
- Solve three mental math problems.
- Breathing
- Take a slow, seven-second breath with your cat.
Pick the method separately from your companion. Larry, Nori, EvoCat and Stare can all keep you company with any method.
Block apps on your schedule.
Set recurring focus blocks, start a manual session, or set daily app limits. Select distracting apps, categories and websites through Apple’s Screen Time controls.
Protect study, work, meals or bedtime with nine schedule templates. The sketchbook room changes with your activity. Block Instagram, TikTok or YouTube during the hours you choose without deleting your accounts.
Plan a scheduled block →See what your screen time means.
Review screen time, pickups and app usage alongside your focus history. Use the numbers to spot the app you keep returning to and the time you’ve protected.
- Today: three hearts show your drift through the day. A drift over a minute costs a heart; the cat changes from Sharp to Tired, Brainrot and Drained. Hard block keeps the guardian locked in.
- Over time: focus hours build toward a concrete milestone. At 100 hours, your cat unlocks its Level 2 appearance.
The character’s condition is game feedback, not a measurement of brain health. Your cat’s appearance never decides which blocking method you can use.
Is EvoCat a good Opal or Brainrot alternative?
Choose EvoCat if you want strict blocking, optional challenge-based breaks and a cat that grows with your focus hours in one app. It combines a firm boundary with something personal to come back to.
Compare app blockers, including Opal, Brainrot and Unrot, by the features that matter to you.
